A new clinical paper has just been published in the Journal of Laparoendoscopic and Advanced Surgical Techniques.  Comparing torsional and linear (longitudinal) modes of ultrasonic coagulating shears for sealing veins, it was concluded that Lotus produced more secure seals in vessels up to 4.5mm diameter.
